About the Band

groupattic2goodSon de la Calle (Song of the Streets) vibrates with the music of Latin America’s barrios and dance clubs—from Cuba’s son and salsa, chachacha and timba, to merengue and bachata from the Dominican Republic, to Columbian cumbia and Venezuelan joropo. With congas, bongó, bass, piano, saxophone, flute and vocals, Son de la Calle is based in Massachusetts’ Pioneer Valley and tours throughout New England. Members of the band include singer Maricel Lucero from Santiago de Cuba, Abraham “Abe” Sanchez, musical director and pianist, Wes Brown on bass, Nelson “Pipo” Milano on timbales and bongo, Jon Weeks on saxophone and flute, and Julian Gerstin on congas. Favorite Latin standards mix with original compositions as Son de la Calle delivers an evening of sizzling Latin sounds.
